Who We Are

Our History

May contain: nature, outdoors, ripple, and water

Mid Valley Metropolitan District is a Colorado Special District formed in 1983 to provide water, wastewater and recreation services to the developing center of the Roaring Fork Valley. The early developers of the Basalt Industrial Park, Blue Lake Subdivision, the Aspen Junction Subdivision and several other developing neighborhoods saw the need for consolidated water and wastewater services to protect our watershed. The District was formed under Title 32 of the Colorado Revised Statutes and approved by Eagle County.

The District provided wastewater treatment and operated a lagoon system located on the west side of the Blue Lake Subdivision. This system worked well until new treatment standards required new technology and in 2003, the District completed construction of a new 500,000 gallon a day Extended Aeration AEROMOD Wastewater Facility.   Based on land use approvals and projections, Mid Valley Metro anticipated further growth and began planning and construction of the second "Basin" and completed construction in 2014. The wastewater facility is capable of treating up to 999,000 gallon a day of influent and is poised to handle the projected growth for the next 15 to 20 years.

What We Provide

Potable Water is provided by Mid Valley Metro from a series of wells throughout the Mid Valley Area. Again, forward looking Boards have secured water rights over the years to ensure an adequate supply for many years to come. Water Storage is provided by several water tanks located on the hillsides surrounding our community and provides over 1.5 million gallons of storage.
